1. Data Collection

Upon receiving your inquiry, one of our team members will contact you within 24 hours (during weekdays) to gather the necessary information to prepare an estimate. This will include confirmation of the top view of your property and your average electricity consumption. If necessary, we will install an energy meter to determine your usage profile. We will also request a photo of your DB Board and Electricity meter.

2. System Design

With all the gathered information, our design engineer will guide you in choosing the optimal solar or backup system customised to your individual needs. We will prepare a detailed estimate featuring a proposed solar panel layout, typical system setup, details on the proposed components and their warranties and the expected system deliverables (solar generation, inverter capacity and battery storage).

3. On-Site Consultation

Should you consider our estimate a viable option, we will arrange for a site visit to discuss and explore the best solution and identify the optimal position for installing the equipment, leading to the finalisation of the quotation.

6. System Optimisation and Handover

Newly installed systems are closely monitored. Within a week of installation completion, our design engineer will do a site visit to fine-tune the settings according to your usage patterns and guide you on operating the system. If you are satisfied that the system operates as specified, the handover documentation is explained, and the system is signed off. You will receive a comprehensive Handover File containing all the relevant system documentation. This includes the invoice, signed handover document, photo record, supplier details for warrantees, technical design specifications, datasheets and a Certificate of Compliance (COC) for the solar/backup installation. The final payment is only due after the system handover. Upon receiving the final payment, the signed documentation and complete file will be emailed to you in PDF format.

FAQ's about CCSO Solar Installations

Do I have to pay for a quotation?

At CCSO Solar, our quotations are free and non-obligatory. We believe in making the process of discovering solar solutions hassle-free and accessible to all.

How long before I receive a quotation?

After receiving your inquiry, a CCSO Solar team member will contact you within one business day. Once we have all the necessary information to craft a tailored solution, you can expect to receive your Detailed Estimate within three working days.

Can an energy analysis be performed to determine my current usage?

If a more in-depth understanding of your electricity consumption profile is required for optimal system design, CCSO Solar will install an energy logger, typically for a week. If you choose to proceed with an installation, there will be no charges for this energy analysis service. It’s our commitment to provide tailored solutions that efficiently meet your energy needs.

What information is needed to prepare a quotation?

To provide you with the best energy solution for your specific needs, CCSO Solar requires the following information:

  • Your average electricity consumption (in Rands or units) or electricity bills over a period of time.
  • Your physical address to determine your available roof space and roof orientation on Google Maps.
  • A photo of your DB board is needed to assess whether there is enough space for additional switchgear and to determine the complexity of the integration.
  • A photo of your electricity meter to confirm compatibility with a solar system.
Which brands of equipment do we install.

At CCSO Solar, we have carefully selected and standardised on the following brands based on performance, reliability, value for money, and after-sales support:

Inverters:       Deye, SunSynk

Batteries:       Deye, Shoto, SunSynk, Pylontech

Solar Panels: JinKo, JA Solar

This deliberate choice allows us to continually expand our expertise in the intricacies of this equipment. As a result, we can offer our clients exceptional guidance and after-sales support, even from a distance.

Will CCSO Solar do a site visit for a quotation?

CCSO Solar will always conduct a site visit before an installation. Based on information supplied by the client, our experience and expertise, and by utilising tools like Google Maps and solar design programs, we first prepare a detailed design of a system suitable for your needs. If you find the initial estimate feasible, we will arrange a site visit to customise and finalise the design. Even after the site visit, our quotations remain non-obligatory. We are committed to ensuring transparency and flexibility in our process to meet your specific needs.

What is the lead time for a solar installation?

Our installation schedule is booked around three weeks in advance. If you decide to proceed with our quotation, we will immediately reserve the next available installation date that suits you. Following a site visit, you can secure your installation date with a deposit payment. Once secured, we initiate the equipment procurement process, ensuring a seamless progression towards your solar solution.

How much do I have to pay upfront?

After the site visit, an initial deposit of 80% is required to contribute towards the procurement of the major components. The remaining 20% is due one week after the installation is finished, subject to system acceptance, sign-off, and handover.

How do I know my deposit is safe?

Our credibility is reflected in the positive feedback from our previous clients, with over 80 5-star Google Reviews attesting to our trustworthiness.

The safety and security of your money are top priorities for us. To provide assurance, we send a bank account confirmation letter and request a telephonic confirmation of the bank account number before your initial payment. As an additional step, you have the option to make a small test payment, proceeding with the rest of the amount only upon confirmation of its reflection in our bank account.

Upon receipt of your deposit, we immediately start procuring your equipment and allocate it to you upon arrival at our site. Keeping you in the loop, we provide photo updates as the equipment arrives, offering transparency and peace of mind throughout the process.

Will the price increase after acceptance of the quotation?

Our quotations are valid for 7 days. Should the quotation be accepted after this period, the prices and availability will be confirmed and adjusted if necessary. The prices of the main components are influenced by the importers and fluctuate based on the frequency of loadshedding. Once the deposit is paid, the quotation is considered fixed unless mutually agreed scope changes occur during installation.

How do I know if everything is on track for my installation?

At CCSO Solar, we value your time and realise the importance of keeping you informed throughout the process. That’s why we prioritise regular updates, complete with photos when applicable. Our goal is to provide you with peace of mind and assurance that every aspect is on track, ensuring a smooth and worry-free experience.

How long does a solar installation take?

Striving to minimise inconvenience for our clients, CCSO Solar typically completes residential solar and backup installations in a single day (weather permitting). Our commitment to efficiency and quality workmanship ensures a seamless and reliable experience for our clients.

Who will be at the installation site?

At CCSO Solar, our pre-installation process begins with a visit from our experienced design engineer. Our solar installation team, comprising the design engineer, an electrician, and four seasoned installers, ensures an efficient installation. For backup installations, a team of three, which includes the design engineer, an electrician, and one installer, works seamlessly toward completing your installation. Additionally, a team member from our technical support team may visit the installation site if required.

What paperwork will I receive after the installation?

Approximately one week after the installation is completed, our design engineer will conduct a site visit for the official handover, ensuring your satisfaction with the system’s performance. He will provide a comprehensive Handover File containing all the relevant system documentation such as the invoice, signed handover document, photo record, supplier details for warrantees, technical design specifications, datasheets and a Certificate of Compliance (COC) for solar/backup installation. Upon receipt of the final payment, the complete file will also be emailed to you in PDF format for your record keeping.

How will I know how to operate my solar system?

On the installation day, we will give you an overview of the system and explain the settings on the inverter. We will assist you in logging in on the relevant monitoring application where we have registered your system and explain how it works.

During the handover meeting, we address any questions and issues you might have encountered during the initial week of operation.

Beyond the handover, rest assured that we proactively monitor our installed systems for any deviations, promptly informing you of anything unusual. For ongoing support, our technical team is readily available to assist with any questions or concerns you may have.

What if my inverter is faulty?

To ensure minimal disruption during repairs, CCSO Solar offers a loan inverter for the interim period, as the repair process may take up to 8 weeks. We handle the entire process—from removing the faulty inverter to transporting it for repairs and replacing it afterwards. Unless the inverter issues stem from negligence on the client’s part, there are no costs associated with this support during the initial year.

Will insurance cover my solar installation?

A solar installation is usually insured as part of the structural insurance of your property (similar to a geyser).  Most insurance companies require, however, that the installation is done by a PV GreenCard Certified Installer.
